The specific objectives of FIT are: 1. To investigate the functional importance of CAFs in immunotherapy resistance and tumor cell dissemination, 2. To delineate the molecular mechanisms of CAFs in directing metastasis, 3. To develop of a high throughput screening method for CAF detection in blood of cancer patients with metastatic disease. Overall, we envision that FIT will fundamentally revolutionize our understanding of the mechanisms that promote metastasis and will provide insights for early detection and treatment of metastatic disease.
